Background: Diabetic foot ulcers can be a major cause of morbidity and mortality for diabetic patients. Patients require thorough debridement and consistent wound care in order to prevent severe infections that have the potential to cause limb loss or even death. This patient population’s ability to heal wounds are impeded by their disease, most evident in patients with poorly controlled diabetes. Due to this, having an effective product to aid in wound healing is paramount. Conformable bovine collagen is a cellular tissue based product that activates platelets triggering the release of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) to aid in wound healing.
