The NP Psych Navigator: A Multimedia Website for Nurse Practitioners Who Treat Patients With Mental Health Disorders

Abstract: Background: Psychiatric nurse practitioners (NPs) need access to appropriate, up-to-date educational materials to help them successfully diagnose and clinically manage their patients. In October 2020, AbbVie Neuroscience launched the NP Psych Navigator website, which is populated monthly with multimedia mental health content for NPs including disease state fundamentals, clinical article summaries, psychiatry scales, quizzes, downloadable practice tools, patient education materials. Methods: A multichannel awareness campaign was conducted. Metrics were analyzed (10/2020-12/2021) to evaluate user numbers, page views, time per page, and e-newsletter open and click-through rates. User actions (ie, content downloads, video/podcast plays, site sign-ups) and most popular content (ie, page views, average time on page) were evaluated. Results: Total of 108,000 AMA-verified NPs practicing in psychiatry and other clinical settings were targeted with awareness efforts. On-site page views have totaled 114,840, with 56,188 total users. Pages with the most views were the Home page, the psychiatry scales directory, and long-form articles about bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder fundamentals. Highest times spent per page were on videos, a podcast, an interview article, a short article, and quizzes. Users performed 1,747 downloads, 3,666 video/podcast plays, and 874 site sign-ups. On average, 6 e-newsletters were deployed/month; average open and click-through rates were 9.21% and 1.24% (vs 8% and .05%-.1% benchmarks), respectively; e-newsletters reached ~45% (49,000) of the targeted audience. Conclusions: NP Psych Navigator is a unique website specifically designed to provide curated content to NPs, and will help support the psychiatric NP community by providing current psychiatric disease state educational materials.Short Description: The NP Psych Navigator is a unique website specifically designed to provide NPs with curated psychiatric and mental health-related educational content and resources.
