Premature Ejaculation, And The Phycological Impact Of Majority Of Female Sexual Dysfunction

Psych Congress 2023
Sexual dysfunction is a prevalent issue that can impact both men and women, leading to significant challenges in relationships. Among these dysfunctions, Premature Ejaculation (PE) and Female Orgasmic Disorder (FOD) are two conditions that are often interconnected. PE refers to the consistent or near-constant occurrence of ejaculation before or within approximately one minute of vaginal penetration, accompanied by the inability to delay ejaculation. Conversely, FOD is characterized by difficulties, delays, or the inability of a woman to achieve orgasm during sexual encounters, as well as a decrease in orgasm frequency and/or intensity. In our study, we aimed to explore the elevated prevalence of FOD occurring as a result of male sexual dysfunction (MSD) in our specific patient population in Miami, which predominantly consists of Latin Americans. Furthermore, we sought to analyze the potential factors contributing to this heightened occurrence, and the psychological ramifications it can have on a couple or the long-term viability of a relationship.
