App Provides Mental Health Assessments for Healthcare Workers
Heroes Health, a new initiative from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Health, supports the mental health of first responders and healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The app, available for iOS and Android mobile operating systems, provides individual healthcare workers with weekly mental health assessments and analysis of how their mental health has changed over time, as well as links to support and mental health resources. Healthcare organizations can partner with the Health Heroes Initiative to perform proactive worker outreach and aggregate data to identify times and areas in which support for workers is needed.
The Heroes Health app was developed by the UNC Institute for Trauma Recovery, and Google Cloud and volunteers across Google parent company Alphabet. The project was funded with donations from One Mind, the Rockefeller Foundation, Bank of America, Lauder Foundation and individual contributions.
