Cleveland Hospital Hires Addiction Medicine Director

Cleveland-based St. Vincent Charity Medical Center has created a new position of chief clinical officer of behavioral health and addiction medicine, and has hired Michael J. Biscaro, PsyD, ABPP, to fill the role.

Biscaro's priorities for the faith-based hospital in downtown Cleveland will include expanding access to the organization's Rosary Hall detoxification and outpatient programs. He also will lead clinical teams in an effort to create an integrated and expanded continuum of care.

Biscaro previously served in a variety of roles at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, including team leader of its Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (PRRC). Last year he became the VA health system's service line manager for peer support services.

Biscaro implemented one of the first PRRC telehealth programs, serving veterans in the Akron area. He co-leads a national workgroup seeking to develop standards for PRRC telehealth implementation.
