Gold Joins Board of Outpatient Treatment Organization

Mark Gold, MD, a national leader in addiction medicine and research, has joined the board of directors at Spero Health, an operator of more than 30 outpatient addiction treatment centers in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.

Gold, a past keynote speaker at the National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD), was a founding member of the McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida and is considered a pioneering influence in advancing the understanding of addiction as a brain disease.

Some of Gold's recent work has focused on algorithms for medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorders. Spero Health's services integrate medication treatment with behavioral therapy and recovery support.

“Spero Health is an innovator and leader in bringing comprehensive community-based addiction treatment to areas in our country hardest hit by the drug epidemic,” Gold said in a news release this week.
