Alumni coordinators will hold fall retreat
Organizers of the group Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services (TPAS) find that alumni coordinators in addiction treatment centers still are asking some of the basic questions about how to engage their former clients. So the group has announced its first retreat in which all participants will be presenters in a collaborative learning community.
The event will take place Oct. 25-28 at Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colo., with the cost of the workshop and accommodations in the $300 to $400 range. “This gathering is a much-awaited opportunity to network and collaborate while gaining fresh ideas for your program,” states the invitation to alumni coordinators for the retreat.
A group of alumni coordinators have been networking and sharing best-practice ideas for engaging treatment center alumni since late 2009, when Lorie Obernauer, PhD, alumni liaison at the Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation (CeDAR) at the University of Colorado Hospital, authored an Addiction Professional article on the benefits of alumni activity for recovery support and for program fundraising.
The event this fall offers an opportunity to expand TPAS’s reach and to enhance the knowledge base on the subject of working with alumni. For more information, contact Obernauer at lorie.obernauer@uch.edu.
