Influential film feeds Hazelden Betty Ford`s Social Community

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's new Social Community received a major boost earlier this month when a 24-hour free streaming of the influential documentary “The Anonymous People” attracted more than 5,700 participants. The 29 countries represented in the March 1 event included Australia, Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan.

According to a news release from Hazelden Betty Ford, more than 6,000 individuals joined the Social Community as a result of the event. The Social Community offers daily recovery meetings, a discussion board, blogs from professionals, and other features for anyone interested in recovery-related topics.

A live question-and-answer session featuring panelists such as documentary director Greg Williams and Minnesota Recovery Connection executive director Neil Hurley was attended by more than 1,700 viewers on the day of the streaming, speaking to the power of the film that spotlights individuals in long-term recovery and urges them to become active members of their communities. Hazelden Betty Ford has begun selling DVD copies of the film through its Bookstore.
