Policy forum PSA features grieving families
The Addiction Policy Forum, a coalition of organizations seeking a comprehensive policy response to the addiction problem, this week released a public service announcement aimed at connecting families with treatment and other resources. “They Are All Good Kids” conveys that families are not alone in their struggle to help a loved one.
The video PSA with no voiceover features still shots of young overdose victims, along with powerful quotes from grieving parents and other family members. Examples of loved ones' comments include:
“Jeff was a good kid. They are all good kids. This is so wrong, so unfair.”
“He was many things—Greg was not his addiction.”
“God gives every parent a toolbox, but I just didn't have all the right tools.”
“The disease of addiction is a merciless, non-discriminatory devil.”
The Addiction Policy Forum is urging individuals to share the video with colleagues in order to increase awareness and advocate change.
