ICDC College launches `Substance Abuse in the Workplace` online course

ICDC College has expanded its curriculum to include a continuing education course designed to help employers and employees of small businesses and corporations to recognize the impact and implications of substance abuse in the workplace.

The two-hour online course is approved and/or recognized by the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC), California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources (CAARR), State of California for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and the State Bar of California, Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE).

"Addiction in the workplace is a prevalent problem that can contribute to an employee's poor job performance, absenteeism, workplace injury, reduced proactivity, as well as any potential illegal activities associated with illicit drug use," said ICDC College's Corporate Director of Education. "In an effort to help companies address these prevailing issues, our substance abuse online course will help employers and employees better understand how to create a drug-free work environment."

The "Substance Abuse in the Workplace" course covers a number of topics including: the laws that govern substance abuse in the workplace; the effects of substance abuse on the body; how employers can recognize employees who abuse drugs and alcohol on the job, while providing additional resources on addition and recovery to all employees.

ICDC College's School of Addictive Disorders will launch its Spring Elements of Addiction Series on "Domestic Violence: Behavior & Group Process" on April 25, at the Santa Monica Business Park, in Santa Monica, Calif. Participants will receive 2.0 continuing education units at a cost of $20, which will include continental breakfast. Parking with validation is included at no extra charge.
