AATOD leader among Faces & Voices honorees
Next month's America Honors Recovery gala in Washington, D.C., will include the awarding of Faces & Voices of Recovery's Lisa Mojer-Torres Award to Mark Parrino, president of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD).
Parrino is a nationally prominent advocate for opioid treatment programs (OTPs) and the widespread use of standards of care in methadone treatment. The award he will receive at the July 17 event is named after a tenacious advocate who was instrumental in the founding of Faces & Voices of Recovery. Previous recipients of the award include Legal Action Center execuive director Paul Samuels and former federal Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) director H. Westley Clark, MD, MPH.
Faces & Voices also has announced that its 2017 Vernon Johnson Awards, honoring individuals who have given back to their communities, will go to Connecticut recovery advocate Michael Askew, Georgia family recovery advocate Susan Barge, and Virginia young adult recovery advocate Tim Rabolt.
