App from SAMHSA guides medication treatment for opioid dependence
A new mobile app for treatment professionals from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Admninistration (SAMHSA) serves as a guide to medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorders, including information on the process for becoming certified to prescribe buprenorphine.
>MATx, available on the Apple app store and Google Play, includes information on the three federally approved medications for the treatment of opioid dependence. It also offers clinical support tools such as treatment guidelines, ICD-10 coding, and strategies for working with special populations.
“This free app supports practitioners who currently provide medication-assisted treatment, as well as those who plan to do so in the future,” according to a fact sheet from SAMHSA.
