Faces & Voices will honor researcher Kreek
Faces & Voices of Recovery next month will honor pioneering addiction and neuropsychopharmacology researcher Mary Jeanne Kreek, MD, with its 2017 William L. White Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award. Among her many accomplishments, Kreek conducted research that led to the introduction of methadone maintenance treatment in the 1960s.
Professor, senior physician and head of the Laboratory of the Biology of Addictive Diseases at Rockefeller University, Kreek also has focused her research efforts on medical issues associated with substance use, including hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS. She was the first woman appointed to run a laboratory at Rockefeller.
Kreek will be honored July 17 at Faces & Voices' America Honors Recovery fundraising dinner and gala in Washington, D.C. The Lifetime Achievement Award honors exemplary contributions to the recovery advocacy movement.
