Recovery stories prominent on redesigned NCADD website
A reconfiguration of the website of the National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD) includes a prominent component that has become emphasized in a number of advocacy and community organizations in recent years: personal stories of recovery.
“Personal experience provides the heartbeat of recovery, and NCADD is committed to publishing stories that reflect the full diversity of experience and opinion,” NCADD president Andrew Pucher said in an Oct. 26 news release announcing the launch of the new site.
The anecdotes that have been posted online reflect a wide range of recovery stages and experiences. “Amanda Z.” from Pennsylvania has been sober since September 2014 and writes, “I am despertately working on my recovery in order not only to conquer sobriety, but to redefine who I am,” while “Patrick O'C.” from New York has been in recovery for 35 years and writes clearly of how he reached a turning point toward a productive and healthy life.
The redesigned website includes a broad range of addiction information and resources for persons with addiction and their loved ones. Links to NCADD's national network of affiliates are available on the site.
