Silver Hill Fills New Position of Chief Clinical Officer

New Canaan, Conn.-based Silver Hill Hospital has created a new position of chief clinical officer and has hired Michael D. Groat, MSc, PhD, who has served as president and CEO of residential treatment facility CooperRiis in Asheville, N.C., since 2016.

According to a news release from the 129-bed hospital, which has been in business since 1931, a long-range goal of the new position will involve development and implementation of new outcome assessments. In the short term, Groat will oversee the opening of a renovated inpatient program with facilities for managing detoxification, as well as the expansion of outpatient care.

Groat's experience also includes eight years at the Menninger Clinic, where his roles included providing clinical leadership to the Division of Adult Services and leading the Professionals in Crisis Inpatient Program. At Silver Hill he will oversee every aspect of the hospital's clinical program, from inpatient care to transitional living.
