Silver Hill Hospital physician honored by pain society
The American Pain Society this month presented Seddon Savage, MD, medical director of Silver Hill Hospital's Chronic Pain and Recovery Center, with its Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes Savage's longtime commitment to understanding the interrelationship of opioid addiction and chronic pain, and was presented at the society's annual meeting in Palm Springs, Calif.
Savage currently chairs the New Hampshire Governor's Commission Task Force on Opioids, and is a past president of the American Pain Society. She is an associate professor of anesthesiology at Dartmouth Medical School, and is currently leading development of an American Pain Society policy paper on the use of medical marijuana for pain treatment.
Connecticut-based Silver Hill Hospital has made significant inroads in addressing chronic pain and opioid addiction, with a program that emphasizes a small overall patient capacity and an emphasis on reconditioning and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
