Hazelden Betty Ford adds second older-adult program site
The older-adult addiction treatment program that Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation established at its Naples, Fla., site now is being introduced at the Betty Ford Center in California. Recovery@50Plus includes nutrition and wellness components and a structured aftercare plan.
“For a host of reasons, we are seeing substance use disorder among older adults occurring at an alarming rate,” Harry Haroutunian, MD, the Betty Ford Center's director of professional and residential programs, said in a news release this week. “Addiction in older adults may be unleashed by the innocent consumption of prescription medication or the gradual increase of alcohol or marijuana intake.”
The Hazelden Betty Ford program is designed to address the physiological, emotional, spiritual and mental health needs of adults ages 50 and older.
