Ohio center breaks ground on fourth recovery house

Neil Kennedy Recovery Centers (NKRC) this week broke ground on a 12-bed recovery house for women, to be located adjacent to its main campus in Youngstown, Ohio. The home will be its fourth recovery house overall and second for women, and is being financed via sources that include the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and an anonymous donor.

NKRC marketing and communications manager Scott A. Shaw tells Addiction Professional that the women living at the Pugh, Cinelli, Wang and Gerberry House (named after four doctors) will be in day treatment or partial care while residing there. “For many, this is the first experience of living in a clean/sober community setting in a while,” Shaw says. “Life skills and learning about responsibility is exercised while they are in the house.”

Other financial contributors to the planned house are the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board and the J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation. Neil Kennedy Recovery Centers is the Ohio division of western Pennsylvania-based Gateway Rehab. Gateway this week also held an open house for a new detox and inpatient facility that soon will open in Westmoreland County, Pa.
