New medical director takes helm at Silver Hill
Effective today, Andrew J. Gerber, MD, PhD, becomes the new president and medical director of Connecticut-based Silver Hill Hospital, a facility that has treated behavioral health disorders for nearly 90 years. Gerber has served as medical director and CEO at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Mass., since 2015.
Gerber's academic work includes roles as an associate clinical professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University and as an adjunct associate clinical professor at the Child Study Center at Yale University. He has conducted research on topics such as psychotherapy outcomes, developmental psychopathology and functional neuroimaging of dynamic processes. He will oversee both patient care and strategic direction at Silver Hill.
Silver Hill Hospital is licensed for 129 beds and admits more than 3,000 adults and adolescents annually, with a focus on the treatment of co-occurring disorders and complex conditions.
