Turning Point announces hire of new executive director

Josh Benton, who developed gender-specific sober living residences as executive director of Hopewell Recovery Services in Boston, has been hired as executive director of Turning Point, the innovative Connecticut-based phased reintegration program for young men.

Benton, who most recently worked as chief development officer for the Boston-based O’Connor Professional Group, replaces John Palmer, who served as Turning Point’s executive director for three years and will develop the new position of director of family programming for the organization. David Vieau serves as Turning Point’s president.

According to a news release from Turning Point, Benton’s hire comes as the organization “positions for continued growth and development of industry-leading recovery solutions for young men.” Turning Point’s programming offers young males in early recovery a safe living environment, 12-Step immersion, and exposure to activities ranging from mixed martial arts to music studio work in an effort to move the young people to greater independence.

At Hopewell Recovery Services, Benton oversaw operation of a 21-bed men’s house and an 11-bed women’s house that became favored referral sites in the Boston area for individuals completing primary treatment at prominent residential programs, including those that frequently refer to Turning Point.
