The treatment of ulcerative colitis has advanced significantly in recent years thanks tot he rapid pace of clinical research discoveries that have led to important additions to the armamentarium available for treating this disease. But major challenges remain. Despite all these new therapies, a substantial number of patients don't respond to initial therapies or even to multiple treatment lines.
