Arizona Coalition Develops Toolkit to Respond to Fentanyl Crisis
The Substance Abuse Coalition Leaders of Arizona (SACLAZ), a group comprised of nearly 30 community coalitions, along with Arizona-based anti-drug organization MATFORCE and Arizona HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) have teamed up to produce a counterfeit pill and fentanyl toolkit.
With the number of deaths linked to fentanyl and counterfeit pills on the rise—the latest CDC data shows 93,000 people in the U.S. died by overdose in 2020, and the overdose death rate in Arizona increased 33% year-over-year—the toolkit has been developed to aid communities in preventing and reversing overdoses. It contains educational materials and resources on fentanyl, counterfeit pills, as well as naloxone, that include:
- Educational sideshow presentations
- Postcards
- Social media assets
- TV, radio and outdoor advertising materials
- Fact sheets
- Door hangers
The toolkit is free to access and is available on the SACLAZ website.
