Caron names new COO

Lisa Marsilio has joined Caron Treatment Centers in the newly created position of chief operating officer. She will focus on increasing access to treatment along the continuum of care and will oversee administrative, operational and regional recovery strategies.

“You’re seeing a heightened awareness of addiction,” Marsilio tells Behavioral Healthcare. “It’s a pivotal time to integrate these services into population and health management.”

She says her background in acute care will help provide the context needed in today’s healthcare landscape where integration, collaboration and value-driven care are increasingly important. For example, she says, Caron can partner with health systems to increase addiction screenings and educate the community at large on addiction disorders and treatment.

“The value proposition is critical in healthcare right now,” Marsilio says. “It’s all over the news, and it’s perfect timing to get behavioral health and addiction to the forefront because for years and years, it was just ‘there.’ Now it’s front and center.”

Part of her role also will include communicating with local clinicians to let them know about Caron’s new programs, such as its inpatient program for health professionals.

Prior to joining Caron, Marsilio was the executive director for Good Shepherd Penn Partners, a joint venture. She led two post-acute hospitals and 14 outpatient locations as well as therapy operations for hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. She also oversaw the development of a post-acute strategy.

Marsilio was recently appointed to the American Hospital Assn. as a Healthcare Council member and to the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation.
