Spero Expands with New Locations in Kentucky and Tennessee

Spero Health this week announced the opening of two outpatient addiction treatment clinics in Kentucky, as well as a new facility in Tennessee.

The Kentucky facilities are located in Elizabethtown and Richmond, while the Tennessee facility is located in Lenoir City. The new offices join Spero’s portfolio of more than 50 locations across Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Virginia.

All three new facilities will offer a combination of in-person and telehealth-based visit options. Patients are provided with weekly access to a physician or nurse practitioner, counseling, and recovery support services that address issues such as housing, food insecurity and employment. The new Kentucky programs accept Medicaid, and the Tennessee program accepts TennCare. All three facilities will accept most commercial insurance plans.

“The pandemic produced conditions that increased overdose deaths because people experienced things like job loss, isolation, loss of social supports and increased psychological issues, all of which made an already life-threatening drug epidemic even worse,” Spero Health CEO Steve Priest said in a news release. “Alarming rates of overdose deaths have spiked because people still feel uncertainty and instability. To further complicate things, we are seeing a surge of overdose related deaths involving fentanyl and multiple drug combinations being used which increases the risk of death. It is clear by the numbers we are seeing, there is no time to waste in bringing comprehensive treatment solutions to cities most in need."
