Telehealth Vendor Makes Software Free to Medical Professionals During Pandemic

A Miami-based technology vendor announced it is making its telehealth and telemedicine app available for free for medical professionals and their patients for the duration of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

PingMD is a HIPAA-compliant digital care platform that connects doctors, clinicians, therapists and patients. The encrypted platform includes audio, video, survey, outcomes and messaging, and facilitates the secure transmission of patient information, medical details, feedback, authorizations, med orders, approvals and other communications.

With shelter-in-place restrictions increasing across the country, the use of telehealth solutions among providers is skyrocketing. Therapy Brands, a Birmingham, Alabama-based firm that specializes in software for mental and behavioral health practices, announced that usage of its telehealth services has soared by more than 4,300% over the week prior.

"The staggering uptick in interest and enrollments regarding our telehealth services is encouraging because it means that people are heeding expert advice to stay home and help 'flatten the curve' of community coronavirus spread, while still receiving the much-needed care of their provider through virtual sessions," Therapy Brands CEO Kimberly O'Loughlin said in a news release.
