BayMark buy adds large Canadian OTP outfit

BayMark Health Services has acquired Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) in Canada. Earlier this year, BayMark acquired 15 centers in New England, and the company has built a large portfolio in a relatively short amount of time.

After closing this latest acquisition, BayMark will hold a total of 167 programs in North America: 145 opioid treatment programs (OTPs), eight office-based buprenorphine programs, 13 outpatient detoxification facilities and one residential treatment center.

According to BayMark officials, the timing was right for the CATC acquisition. The deal includes 72 opioid treatment programs (OTPs), 19 pharmacies and one residential treatment center located in Ontario. Additionally, CATC offers treatment for hepatitis C. The programs will retain the CATC name and management teams.

According to the company’s announcement, approximately 600,000 Canadians are misusing prescription medications.
