Skyland Trail welcomes new professional and new program
Skyland Trail (Atlanta, Ga.), a nonprofit treatment organization for adults with mental illness, has announced that Donald Wade Lee will be serving as the certified peer specialist and alumni program coordinator. This is a new position and marks the introduction of new programs and services at Skyland Trail.
As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team at Skyland Trail, Lee will apply his perspective and training to help clients with motivation and engagement, skill building, and problem solving. Lee also will help develop and launch an alumni program. Recognizing the value of relationships forged while in treatment, the program will provide opportunities for alumni to stay connected, build new relationships, and engage in healthy social activities in a supportive environment. Planned services include emotional support, social activities and service projects in the community.
“We are thrilled to have a certified peer specialist join the clinical staff at Skyland Trail,” remarked Chris Cline, vice president of clinical services. “The CPS role is one that bridges the clinical team's expertise with the clients’ experience. Wade will help clients see each step in recovery as valuable in achieving their larger goals and understand how to make the most of the opportunities at Skyland Trail.”
