Acadia Appoints Executive to Lead Comprehensive Treatment Center Business

Acadia Healthcare has appointed Nasser Khan, MD, as the operations group president for its comprehensive treatment center (CTC) business, which includes 145 facilities and associated services. Acadia CTC programs provide medication-assisted treatment and behavioral therapy to treat opioid use disorders. Each program also provides substance use disorder treatment support services, including medical, counseling, vocational, educational, and other treatment services.

Most recently, Dr Khan served as senior vice president of operations at Shields Health Solutions. He has also held the titles of head of program and chief medical officer for healthcare tech firm Biograph, as well as several progressive operational leadership positions at DaVita.

Oceans Healthcare Opens Hospital in Texas

Oceans Healthcare has opened Oceans Behavioral Hospital Corpus Christi, a program located inside CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline. The 42-bed hospital will expand inpatient capacity and allow for treatment of more clinically acute patients managing depression, anxiety, or other behavioral health conditions complicated by a substance use dual diagnosis. Oceans said in a news release it plans to add intensive outpatient mental health services for adults and seniors at a later date.

The hospital-within-a-hospital is an extension of a partnership between Oceans Healthcare and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System that began in the spring of 2020, around the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Molina Partners With Pyx Health to Expand Access to Care

Molina Healthcare of New Mexico has announced a partnership with Pyx Health that will expand access to behavioral health services for Molina’s Medicare members.

Pyx offers loneliness and social isolation technology to help vulnerable populations. Through a screening process, working with health plan members, and data, the platform gauges users’ emotional state. Data is monitored by support staff, and actionable recommendations are provided.

In a news release announcing the deal, Molina noted that social isolation is linked to increased rates for various health risks, including dementia (50% increased risk), heart disease (29%), and stroke (32%), as well as mental health conditions and suicide.

Molina provides government-funded healthcare through Medicare and Health Insurance Marketplace programs in New Mexico. The company has served about 5.1 million members as of June.
