BHG Partners With Sonara Health for Take-Home Medication Monitoring

Sonara Health, developer of a web-based application that allows patients to record dosing of take-home medications, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Behavioral Health Group (BHG) to make Sonara’s app available to 3 opioid treatment programs in South Carolina.

BHG operates 115 outpatient programs in 22 states overall. Through its partnership with Sonara, patients at its centers in Charleston, Aiken, and Spartanburg, South Carolina, will be able to remotely record methadone doses for their care teams to review. The process will expedite the process for patients to qualify for take-home medications and increase their number of take-homes over time.

In a news release announcing the deal, BHG National Clinical Director Christine Martin said the organization anticipates Sonara’s remoting dosing and other digital tools to help BHG programs to reach more individuals seeking recovery and maintain patient engagement.

BayCare to Open Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center in Florida

BayCare Health System is launching a behavioral health urgent care center in New Port Richey, Florida, that will serve the state’s West Central region. The center will allow same-day appointment scheduling and walk-ins, and it will provide mental health and addiction screening and assessments. BayCare will renovate a building next to existing behavioral health facilities operated by the organization to house the center.

Last week, Pasco County Commission awarded $3.7 million in opioid settlement funds, to be distributed over 3 years, to the organization. Funds received in the first year will cover construction costs, and funds over the remaining 2 years will be used to meet operational needs.

The behavioral health urgent care center is slated to open in December.
