CEO Appointed for Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast

Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare announced this month that Kelly Ankenbrand has been installed as chief executive officer for Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast, a new 96-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital being constructed in Moosic, Pennsylvania, through a partnership between the 2 organizations.

The promotion of Ankenbrand completes a transitional plan that was launched in August 2022, when Jenna Pacini was named CEO of the hospital and Ankenbrand was designated as CEO-in-training. With Ankenbrand having completed training, Acadia said in a news release that Pacini will be moved to the CEO role for another of its hospitals.

Ankenbrand will oversee the development of the facility, including staffing, clinical programming design, and oversight of all key functions leading up to the hospital’s launch. Prior to joining Geisinger, Ankenbrand served as vice president of behavioral health services for Commonwealth Health Network in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Overall, she has 25 years of experience in the field.

Geisinger Behavioral Health Hospital Northeast is 1 of 2 facilities being developed through the joint venture between Geisinger and Acadia. A second freestanding inpatient behavioral health hospital, known as Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Central, is being constructed in Danville, Pennsylvania. Both the Northeast and Central hospitals will serve adult and pediatric patients.
