Business Briefs: Pear Digital Therapeutics, Integrated Psychiatric Consultants, Brookdale Premier Addiction Recovery

Tom Valentino, Senior Editor

Pear Therapeutics announced recently that MassHealth, the Massachusetts Medicaid program, has informed the company that it intends to begin covering reSET and reSET-O, Pear’s prescription digital therapeutics for treating substance use disorders and opioid use disorders. MassHealth, which has about 2 million enrollees, becomes the first state Medicaid program to cover FDA-authorized prescription digital therapeutics.

The decision by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services is subject to federal and state government approvals, as well as availability of sufficient funding.

Used in conjunction with outpatient counseling, reSET and reSET-O provide patients with cognitive behavioral therapy, fluency training, and contingency management. Clinicians, meanwhile, receive clinical data from the therapeutics’ software that informs in-office and telehealth-based visits.
