Acadia, Tufts Medicine to Build Inpatient Facility in Massachusetts
Tufts Medicine, a Massachusetts-based health system, and Acadia Healthcare, have announced the formation of a joint venture to build a 144-bed inpatient behavioral health facility on the site of the former Malden Hospital in Malden, Massachusetts. The $65 million facility will treat patients of all ages in the Greater Boston area.
As part of the project, MelroseWakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital will consolidate their inpatient behavioral health services at the new facility. The partnership will look to augment existing services through the development of care delivery models to better integrate behavioral health services.
The new hospital will provide inpatient and intensive outpatient behavioral healthcare programs. The building will have a smaller footprint than the former Malden Hospital, and the project will set aside 9 acres for conservation and open space.
