Stepping Stones Group Acquires HM Therapy
The Stepping Stones Group, a national provider of therapeutic, behavioral, autism, nursing, and educational services to children in school, home, and community settings, has announced its acquisition of behavioral company HM Therapy. The move expands Stepping Stones’ presence in the San Diego area and gives HM Therapy a national strategic partner.
HM Therapy founder and CEO Kyle Heebner and Alice Heebner will remain with the company. Kyle Heebner will take on the role of senior advisor, and Alice Heebner will serve as director of clinical services.
Stepping Stones Group operates a network across 42 states.
Oceans Healthcare Appoints New Chief Operating Officer
Oceans Healthcare on Wednesday announced the appointment industry veteran Jeff Pritchard as its chief operating officer. Pritchard has spent nearly 30 years in behavioral healthcare, including 15 years in executive roles. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer of Springstone Health, a Louisville, Kentucky-based behavioral health provider. In that role, Pritchard oversaw the business and financial performance of hospitals in multiple states.
Pritchard joins Oceans as the company is in the midst of continued expansion. Oceans has doubled in size since 2017 through acquisitions, joint ventures, new facility development, and the addition of new services. Within the past year, the company has opened 5 new behavioral health hospitals, acquired and expanded pharmacy services, and announced plans for 3 additional locations. The company plans to expand into additional states within the next year, it said in a news release.
Discovery Behavioral Health Appoints Chief Medical Officer
Discovery Behavioral Health, operator of a network of mental health, substance use, and eating disorder treatment centers, announced this week that it has named psychiatrist Matthew Ruble, MD, as its chief medical officer. Dr Ruble has experience as a physician in private, commercial, and public practices, and has also served as an executive for health care provider organizations. Most recently, Dr Ruble served as lead medical director for Humana, where he created a model of integrated medical and behavioral health, and directed clinical utilization management for behavioral health.
Discovery Behavioral Health President and CEO John Peloquin noted that with the company set to unveil a new care model that integrates telehealth and in-person patient visits later this year, Dr Ruble’s experience is “foundational for meeting our goal of providing the best outcomes for the treatment of eating, mental health, and substance use disorders.”
Stella Names New CEO
Stella, a Chicago-based provider of treatments for trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and mental health management, has appointed Philippe Sanchez as its new CEO. Sanchez has served early-stage organizations in the health care, multi-unit retail, and technology sectors for more than 20 years.
As CEO of Stella, Sanchez will be tasked with charting out the organization’s expansion, and prioritization of research for emotional traumas and biological precision treatments.
