Summit BHC Opens Facility in Sacramento

Summit BHC, a national provider of behavioral health and addiction treatment services, announced on Monday that it has opened Fair Oaks Recovery Center in Sacramento, California. The new facility is the ninth to join the Summit BHC portfolio in the past 12 months and the company’s 33rd location overall.

With a 48-bed capacity, Fair Oaks is a behavioral health hospital that serves adults with serious substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Services include detox, and residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of treatment.

Gateways Hospital Receives Grant for Adolescent-Focused Expansion

Los Angeles-based Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center announced on Monday that it has been awarded a $19.2 million grant from the state of California to expand adolescent behavioral and mental health services at its Echo Park hospital campus. The project is one of 54 being funded through $480.5 million in grants announced recently by Gov. Gavin Newsom to improve California’s behavioral health infrastructure for children and adolescents.

With its expansion, Gateways Hospital will become the largest provider of acute adolescent mental health and substance use disorder treatment services in Los Angeles County. The project will focus on adolescents with serious emotional or behavioral problems, or experiencing an acute psychiatric emergency. Support specialties will focus on adolescents who identify as transgender, intersex, and nonbinary, those who are facing crises due to issues related to substance use and eating disorders, and transition age youth between the ages of 18 and 24 who face increased pressure and placement issues while transitioning to adulthood.

The expansion will add 37 beds to Gateways Hospital’s existing 27-bed capacity and increase the facility’s number of patients served annually from 300 to 445.

Meadows Behavioral Healthcare Launches Denver Outpatient Facility

Meadows Behavioral Healthcare, a provider of trauma, addiction, eating disorder, and co-occurring disorder treatment, announced the opening of The Meadows Outpatient Center-Denver, a new treatment facility in the Colorado city’s Tech Center. The program is now accepting patients and will begin offering treatment services on January 23.

The new facility joins Meadows Outpatient Center programs operating in 4 other states. The new Denver program will offer intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs to address substance use disorders and mental health issues, including trauma, chronic stress, burnout, depression, and anxiety.

The company said in a news release that additional facilities in Austin and Houston, Texas, are slated to open in the first half of 2023.

ARC Health Acquires Lilac Center

ARC Health, a Beachwood, Ohio-based part of the Thurston Group portfolio, has acquired the Lilac Center, operator of 4 integrated mental health centers in Kansas and Missouri.

Founded by Amy Tibbitts, LSCSW, and Tony Tibbitts, the Lilac Center offers a range of psychological services with focus on dialectical behavior therapy. The organization treats those who suffer with childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicidal thoughts, addiction, and relationship issues, as well as those who have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

The Lilac Center programs join an ARC Health network of treatment centers that operate in 9 states and Washington, D.C.
