Business Briefs: Summit BHC, Strategic Behavioral Health, Santé Center, Royal Life Centers, Landmark Recovery TCV Community Services, Devereux

Summit BHC, the Franklin, Tennessee-based national provider of behavioral health and addiction treatment services, has acquired 7 psychiatric hospitals in 6 states from Strategic Behavioral Health:

  • Eagle View Behavioral Health (Bettendorf, Iowa)
  • Peak Behavioral Health (Santa Teresa, New Mexico)
  • Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health (Wilmington, North Carolina)
  • Creekside Behavioral Health (Kingsport, Tennessee)
  • Palms Behavioral Health (Harlingen, Texas)
  • Willlow Creek Behavioral Health (Green Bay, Wisconsin)
  • Miramont Behavioral Health (Madison, Wisconsin)

The facilities have a combined 613 inpatient psychiatric beds to serve children, adolescents, adults and seniors, as well as outpatient programs for adults and adolescents. The acquisition expands Summit BHC’s footprint to New Mexico, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, and gives the company a total of 31 facilities across the US.

Santé Center Announces Leadership Transition

Santé Center for Healing, a north Texas-based provider of substance use disorder and mental health services, has announced the retirement of CEO Dennis Wade, effective Dec. 31, 2021, and the appointment of his successor, Sam Slaton, MEd, LPC-S, MBA, MHSM.

Wade spent 22 years as the organization’s top executive and is credited with guiding its clinical evolution to now offer a full continuum of recovery services, including medical detox, intensive outpatient treatment, transitional living, and an alumni program. Slaton joined Santé in 2004, and has served as director of intake and admissions, director of outpatient services, and most recently as chief operating officer.

Royal Life Centers Acquired by Milch

Royal Life Centers, an addiction treatment provider with 8 locations and a combined capacity of 277 beds, has been added to the portfolio of Michael Milch, owner and CEO of Footprints to Recovery, Vogue Recovery Center, and South Coast Behavioral Health.

Royal Life Centers, which are located in Arizona and Washington state, offer detox, residential treatment, and outpatient programs, integrating traditional therapies with holistic approaches, such as adventure therapy, music therapy, yoga, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Landmark Recovery of Indianapolis adds MAT

Landmark Recovery of Indianapolis announced that it will now provide medication-assisted treatment with intensive therapy in an outpatient setting to treat opioid use disorder. Suboxone maintenance will be administered in 3 stages, with receipt of medication dependent on patients’ participation in and fulfillment of scheduled therapy sessions.

Founded in 2016, Landmark Recovery offers detox, residential, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization services in communities in Kentucky, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Nevada, along with its sister company, Praxis by Landmark Recovery, which serves the Medicaid population.

TCV Community Services Becomes Devereux Affiliate

TCV Community Services, a not-for-profit provider of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges, announced that it has become an affiliate of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, a Pennsylvania-based not-for-profit behavioral healthcare provider with operations in 13 states.

As part of the agreement, TCV will remain an independent legal entity with Fran Sheedy Bost remaining as executive director. The company will retain its name, staff, and vendor and community partnerships. TCV will gain access to Devereux’s model of clinical best practices, with employee training, professional education, and skill enrichment, wage increases, recruiting resources, and enhanced programs and services, safety protocols, and risk-management data.
