Talkiatry Partners With Leading New Jersey Health Insurer
Talkiatry announced on Tuesday that it has formed a partnership with Horizon Healthcare Services to offer its virtual mental healthcare treatment services as a preferred psychiatry provider.
Talkiatry, which employs more than 300 full-time, licensed psychiatrists, offers in-network psychiatric services and therapy. Horizon is the largest health insurer in New Jersey, with more than 3.6 million members, including more than 1 million who have Medicaid plans.
With the addition of Horizon, Talkiatry now works with a network of more than 60 health insurance providers who serve more than 200 million individuals in 43 markets combined.
Meadows Opens 2 Outpatient Facilities in Texas
Meadows Behavioral Healthcare (MBH), a national provider of treatment for trauma, addiction, disordered eating, and co-occurring disorders, announced that it has opened 2 new outpatient facilities in Texas. The new locations in Austin and Houston join the company’s existing facilities in Texas—an outpatient center in a Dallas and nearby inpatient program in Princeton. The Austin and Houston facilities were slated to begin accepting patients on Wednesday.
MBH said in a news release that it plans to open additional facilities in Chicago, Illinois, and Seattle, Washington, in 2023.
Aware Recovery Care Appoints Chief Medical Officer
Aware Recovery Care, a provider of in-home mental health and substance use disorder treatment services, announced the appointment of Lauren H. Grawert, MD, as its new chief medical officer.
In her new role, Dr Grawert will collaborate with CEO Brian Holzer, MD, to lead and scale the company’s medical affairs organization and oversee daily operations of Aware’s clinical care model.
Previously, Dr Grawert served as chief of psychiatry (Northern Virginia) for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Group, a position in which she developed and instituted outpatient addiction treatment programs for alcohol and opioid use disorders. She has also worked in private practice, specializing in general psychiatry, substance use disorders, and medically assisted treatment services.
Discovery Behavioral Health Adds Executive in Eating Disorder Division
Discovery Behavioral Health, which operates a network of mental health, substance use, and eating disorder treatment centers, announced that Sharon Zimbler has been appointed regional vice president of its eating disorders division.
A marriage and family therapist, Zimbler has served as CEO of Montecatini, an eating disorder treatment program in Carlsbad, California, since 2014. Zimbler will have 2 areas of focus in her new role, the company said in a news release announcing her appointment: the impact of social media on patients with eating disorders and the aftermath of the pandemic on mental health overall.
Integrated Primary Care and Behavioral Health Center to Open in New Jersey
RWJBarnabas Health, Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, and Woods Services announced plans this week to collaborate on an integrated primary and behavioral healthcare center for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and autism.
The project, which will be supported by an $800,000 grant authorized by Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey state legislature, is expected to open in early 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton in Hamilton, New Jersey. It will serve individuals in the central region of the state with plans to later expand.
The new center will offer coordinated care across primary, specialty, and behavioral health settings, with medical and behavioral health services offered on site or through outpatient telehealth and in-home visits.
