Kimpton, Talkspace Partner to Provide Mental Health Services for Guests, Employees
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced that it will begin offering mental health services to guests, as well as employees, through a new partnership signed with online behavioral health company Talkspace.
The KimptonxTalkspace program will offer up to 1,000 complimentary video therapy sessions with licensed counselors to guests over the age of 18 who are staying at one of more than 60 Kimpton properties. Kimpton is also offering a Talkspace promotional code for guests through the end of the year, as well as a 1-year subscription to the platform for employees.
Talkspace uses an encrypted web and mobile platform to deliver digital care that is consistent with HIPAA and other state regulatory requirements. Its therapists and counselors provide anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, couples therapy, and other related mental health services.
“Our founder Bill Kimpton was public and brave about his own personal struggles with mental health and made both physical and mental health a priority for all of his employees from the beginning,” Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino said in a news release. “We take our commitment to heartfelt hospitality seriously, and we are proud that our Talkspace partnership gives us an opportunity to bring our Stay Human ethos to life while providing more mental health support for our people and our guests.”
The partnership to deliver mental health services to hotel workers and travelers comes as 9 of 10 therapists say they are struggling to meet demand as the number of clients seeking care is surging, calls for appointments are on the rise, and waitlists are growing longer.
