Image Guidance in CTO Treatment

Images courtesy of University Hospital Erlangen, Germany.

Image guidance can substantially impact the successful treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTOs) via percutaneous interventions (PCIs). The following four clinical images demonstrate CTO treatment support using syngo CTO Guidance software from Siemens Healthineers.

Case. A 72-year-old male presents with angina. The patient has known coronary artery disease (CAD) and implantation of a drug-eluting stent (DES) in the circumflex artery. A CTO of the right coronary artery (RCA) is identified and utilizing a previous computed tomography angiography (CTA) scan acquired via the SOMATOM Force CT system (also from Siemens Healthineers), syngo CTO Guidance is used successfully to assist with planning and guidance in the placement of a wire across the chronic occlusion for further treatment.
