Successful Paravalvular Leak Closure Using Echo-Fluoro Guidance

Images courtesy New York University.

The combination of angiography and ultrasound information allows for a comprehensive presentation of complex structural heart disease. Identifying anatomic and hemodynamic structures via echo may prove difficult when the echo and angio images are not fused together. A paravalvular leak (PVL) closure is often extremely challenging due to the leak’s small size and the fact that its location is not visible on X-ray during the attempted intervention. The following four clinical images, generated by the TrueFusion application on the ACUSON SC2000 cardiovascular ultrasound system from Siemens Healthineers, depict a successful PVL closure; markers are co-registered with the live X-ray fluoro image.
