Meeting Update

The Wisconsin Chapter of the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (SICP) Annual Fall Educational Conference

November 11-12, 2016, marked the 11th annual WI-SICP Educational Conference, held at the Kalahari Water Park and Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.

The weekend started off on Friday night with conference check-in and a social gathering in the resort’s bowling complex. Over 40 attendees enjoyed an evening of networking with many of the vendors as well as cath lab professionals and physicians from around the state. As has been our tradition, bowling and an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet were available for all attendees.

After late registration Saturday morning, a deluxe breakfast buffet was served to get everyone ready for a day of informative lectures. WI-SICP President Erwin Wuehr started by introducing the WI-SICP board members, including incoming members, and then introduced the first guest speaker.

Attendees were educated on a variety of topics and ended with a hands-on heart dissection.

An overview of the day’s lectures:
•    Dr. Ted Feldman
The Future of Percutaneous Structural Heart
•    Dr. Ted Feldman
    Bioabsorbable Products
•    Dr. Peter Mason
    STEMIs via the Radial Approach
•    Dr. Firas Ghanem
    Difficult and Unique Cases
•    Richard Mullivain, PharmD
New Meds, Protocols and Research for STEMIs with Cath Lab Considerations
•    Hands-On Heart Dissection

During the lunch buffet and the breaks in between lectures, attendees had time to visit the vendor room.  Vendors were present to educate cardiovascular professionals on the latest technologies and tools available. Each attendee was given a “vendor passport”, which was stamped by each vendor as their table was visited. At the end of the conference, these passports were entered into a raffle for a chance to win a variety of prizes and gift cards. After all of the speakers presented, the conference concluded with a hands-on heart dissection. All attendees received their own dissection kit and were led step by step through the dissection.

The conference was closed with remarks from President Erwin Wuehr, and the winners of the raffle were announced.  Attendees picked up their CEU certificates on the way out, and were sent home with various gifts.

The WI-SICP would like to thank the vendors for their support, and all of the healthcare professionals for attending.
