Congratulations!

We would like to recognize Patrick Harris, CVT, RCIS, on his successful completion of the RCIS examination. Patrick is a cardiovascular technologist in the Cardiac Cath/Vascular Procedure Lab at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia. The cath lab opened in March 2012 and offers diagnostic cardiac caths and peripheral vascular interventional procedures. Patrick is the first staff member to achieve the RCIS certification. Our goal is to have all staff members RCIS-certified within the next 12 months.

Congratulations, Patrick!

We would like to congratulate Rich Botto, BS, RCSA, Dan Zabielski, RT(R)(CV), RCSA, and Vinnie Picone, RT(R), RCSA, who received their registered cardiovascular specialist assistant (RCSA) credential in October. These three cardiovascular professionals work in the cardiac cath lab at Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, we would like to do the same for Charlene Shellenberger, BS, AND, RN, RCIS, RCSA, who is on a cath lab nurse assignment at the same academic center. She received her RCSA credential along with her certification as a trainer, assessor, and examiner (CTAE) in cardiovascular medical simulation in December 2012. When this cardiovascular professional is not on a cath lab assignment, she is contracted to provide extensive cardiovascular review and cardiovascular acute care nursing programs for newly hired technical and nursing staffs in cardiac cath laboratories and critical care nursing staffs being oriented to their new job settings.

Joe Hastings, RN, RCSA, who is a fellow member of the same team, received his RCSA credential in September 2011.

We also would like to congratulate Mark R. Baker, RCIS, EMT-P, RCSA, who received his RCSA this month. This cardiovascular professional received outstanding recommendations from his medical director and his attending cardiologists to pursue the advance level practice credential. Mark manages the cardiac cath lab system at the Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, Colorado.
