A Time to Celebrate

May 2011

As this issue hits the streets, many of you will be preparing for various EMS Week activities in your communities for the week of May 15-21.

This year's theme, Everyday Heroes, celebrates the service you provide to your patients on a daily basis. While acknowledging this service, you may also want to take some time to explore how you, as an EMS provider, can participate in, grow and support your profession. And there's a new resource to help you do just that.

EMSWeekIdeas.org is a new website that presents a wealth of ideas for engaging in the full spectrum of EMS activities. You can gather information on advancing your career; staying safe on the job; becoming an advocate for EMS; increasing public awareness; and recognizing the profession's history.

The site, hosted by the National Association of EMTs and sponsored by EMS World, aims to augment the many ways in which agencies celebrate EMS Week, while emphasizing how individual providers can participate not only during EMS Week itself, but throughout the rest of the year.

We welcome your thoughts on the content and your ideas on additional resources you would like more information on. Contact me at editor@EMSWorld.com.
