EMS Museum Opens Online
As a member of the National EMS Museum Foundation (NEMSMF), I am pleased to announce the grand opening of its Virtual Museum (www.nemsmf.org).
The NEMSMF exists to commemorate and catalogue the history of EMS. We wish to honor all who came before us and all who continue the important work we do, as well as educate the next generation of EMS providers about the history of EMS.
Many people are already involved with state and regional EMS museums and they will continue to be the first source for information about Museum activities, ideas for exhibits, information regarding your colleagues, and collection of donated photographs, articles, stories, visual media and other artifacts. Our goal is to work with all other local EMS museums that wish to affiliate in an effort to give the EMS community at large a means to connect with their local repositories.
Phase I of our venture"an online Museum"is ready to go. The design and implementation was sometimes overwhelming, and we owe our thanks to several talented people. We are confident the result has been worth the effort. It is our intent to make this YOUR museum.
Input gathered from an e-mail discussion list, phone calls and personal contacts at various conferences have been taken into serious consideration. As a result, the design of the Virtual Museum follows a representation of the points of the Star of Life. We look forward to your comments and all future contributions.
In April, we began putting small exhibits in the Virtual Museum for everyone to enjoy. If you have already visited the site, please come back for more. Feature exhibits will change often, so there will always be new things to see. If you haven't visited us, please do soon!
In addition, the museum will have a large display at EMS EXPO in Orlando, FL, October 11-13, so please make plans to come and see us there and provide more input as we continue to build on the heritage already laid down.
In the meantime, I wish you all a happy and successful EMS Week.
