The Incident Commanders' Radio Interface
The ICRI from Communications-Applied Technology is a rugged, rack-mountable interoperability "bridge" that interconnects incompatible radios, phones and IPs. Shown on the cover of this issue are MedStarOne's 5 connections for portable or mobile radios, two talk-group version, with analog telephone adaptor linking the ICRI to an IP router. Integrated in an ambulance converted as a tactical communications unit, the simplicity, ease of use and cost-effectiveness in linking EMS, fire, police and other mutual aid responders led to ICRI's selection. Cable connections and toggle switches are simple to configure, enabling set-up and creation of talk groups in just minutes with minimal familiarity. The ICRI runs up to 30 hours on 8 standard 'AA' batteries, or can be plugged into 12 VDC or 120 VAC. Other configurations include a portable, 3-lb., 10" x 7" x 3" version and a 1" backpackable version. DHS SAFECOM/ODP-compliant.
