BOA coil lacing system
ROCKY Outdoor Gear continues to make innovations in duty footwear with the introduction of the BOA Coil Lacing System in its 2006 product line. The BOA System tightens the boot or shoe in exact increments via a turn-dial that constricts a strong, ultra-thin, steel-stranded wire. This system locks the foot in place and eliminates the possibility of laces breaking or coming untied while on the job. The BOA 2186 model is an athletic-inspired chukka made of black full-grain leather and breathable mesh. Its lightweight design, vented polyurethane insert and tri-density "Trail Tread" outsole make the 2186 extremely comfortable. The BOA System was also designed not to constrict pressure points in the foot, promoting better circulation and additional comfort.

PROFlexX X-frame ambulance cot
The new PROFlexX Manual X-Frame Ambulance Cot from Ferno features a longer, solid front leg in the X-Frame, which provides minimal flex and a lower center of gravity at all heights. This means operators may be less likely to tip or flip a cot during transfers and transport, reducing situations that may cause injury to the operator or patient. The PROFlexX provides the EMS community with significant new features for patient transport. These include 700-lb. load capacity in the raised position, no pinch points, an ergonomic foot-end lift-bar with adjustable handgrips, a five-position load bar for greater maneuverability and multiple lift positions, and L-casting technology for increased strength and durability. The PROFlexX also offers EMS crews the versatility to respond to bariatric patients. In the lowest position, the PROFlexX can transport 1,100 lbs. When you combine this with the removable LBS Bariatric Board, Bariatric Pull Cables, Manta Patient Transfer Sheet, and by using the upper range of the load frame as a push-pull handle, you can safely move any size patient.

TurboFlare alert
TurboFlare USA's TurboFlare Alert incorporates an electronic motion detector early warning and anti-theft system in the TurboFlare and TurboFlare "SOS" day/night emergency road flare. This new electronic system notifies an officer of any interference from vehicles entering into the TurboFlare traffic control pattern/lane closure, or anyone who may try to steal a TurboFlare from the pattern. If the TurboFlare is struck or picked up, a solid beep is sent to a receiver worn by the officer. The Turbo-pennants that attach to the top of each flare are very high profile during the day, when the LEDS are not as noticeable. These pennants are also used at night for added protection. Motorists see the reflection and height of the Turbo-pennants and veer away from the traffic pattern, so as not to damage their vehicle when they approach the scene.

3-agent biothreat assay delivers rapid results
Cepheid, a broad-based molecular diagnostics company, has introduced the 3-Agent Biothreat assay for its GeneXpert System. This molecular diagnostic test enables users to identify B. anthracis (anthrax), Y. pestis (bubonic plague), and F. tularensis (rabbit fever) from a single, unprepared suspicious sample. Positive test results are available in approximately 70 minutes. The three organisms covered by the three-agent assay are listed as Category A Priority Pathogens by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. The GeneXpert 3-Agent assay follows the successful introduction of the GeneXpert Anthrax test. Used by government agencies and first response units, GeneXpert Anthrax tests are most notably in use at the U.S. Department of State and in the U.S. Postal Service Biohazard Detection System, where more than 2.3 million tests have been run since 2004 without a single false positive.

Increase lifting capacity while decreasing threat of injury
Handi-Straps adapt to any exercise of lifting or pulling by hand engagement. The rubberized strap extension extends just past the fingers and is used to secure objects and engage the Handi-Straps apparatus. The strap extension reduces hand and finger strain and protects the hand from abrasives or sharper objects while maximizing grip ability. Testing by ErgoMed indicates a significant decrease in the probability of low back disorders when using the Handi-Straps, as forces associated with lifting are distributed to the shoulders and upper back and encourage proper lifting technique.
