Easy-to-Use HeartStart Defibrillator

Philips’ HeartStart FRx defibrillator is designed to be easy-to-use, rugged and reliable. FRx features Philips’ patented SMART Biphasic waveform and SMART Analysis to assess the victim’s heart rhythm and deliver a shock only if a shockable rhythm is detected—even if the shock button is pressed. Voice commands and descriptive visual icons guide the user through every step, including CPR. SMART Pads II enable the FRx to keep pace, automatically adjusting to the user’s actions. Call 800/453-6860, or visit www.medical.philips.com.

Interactive ECG?Simulator

Using the Interactive ECG Simulator from Nasco, defibrillation shock can be delivered through a manikin or simulator. Operation of defibrillator/external pacer can be practiced without manikin. Adapters connect the defibrillator/external pacer to the simulator. Built-in circuitries allow defibrillation and pace directly into the simulator and observe ECG rhythms through the PADS connector. Simulator has a convert feature. Another rhythm can be selected to run immediately after defibrillator discharge. Pacing can be done on any manufacturer’s defibrillator. Call 800/558-9595, or visit www.eNASCO.com.

Great Cardiac Care Starts With Good CPR

This new manikin from Simulaids offers the instructor a unit with which they may teach the procedure of lifting the jaw, as in the case of suspected cervical spine injury. Based upon the best-selling Brad manikin, the new unit incorporates the same cross-contamination limiters: a non-rebreathing, one-way valve in the airway that keeps contaminants from reaching the rescuer performing ventilations, along with the individual face piece for each student. With the chin lowered onto the chest, no respirations can be administered. Lifting the jaw opens the airway for adequate rescue breathing application. Call 800/431-4310, or visit www.simulaids.com.
