Heavy-Duty Rescue Unit
Pierce Manufacturing has delivered a custom-designed heavy-duty walk-in rescue unit to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for purposes of homeland and port security. Delivered in December 2004, the unit is built on a Kenworth T300 chassis with a Cummins ESC-330 engine. It contains intercom, firecom, wireless Ethernet, video monitoring and telephone systems, and is equipped with a 35-foot Will-Burt mast for mounting thermal and color cameras. Rescue Units for Pahrump
With a service area that includes more than 400 square miles of hills, desert and vast open plains, Pahrump (NV) Fire Rescue needed EMS vehicles that could go where regular ambulances could not. Its chief chose converted Excursion response units from Odyssey Automotive Specialty. The agency acquired two transport-capable units that include heavy-duty Stryker stretchers suitable for transport. Each stretcher mounts in the rear when the seat is up, allowing up to five team members to respond if not transporting. Pediatric ICU
This American LaFrance MedicMaster Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, built for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women in Orlando, FL, features a modular ambulance body. It is mounted on a Freightliner M2 Business Class extended-cab chassis with a 250HP Mercedes MBE 900 engine. The stretcher configuration features two stretcher loads, one loading from the rear and one through the curbside double doors. Provisions accommodate two infant isolettes in place of the stretchers.
