Supporting the Next Generation of EMS: Bound Tree Medical’s Legacy Scholarship Award

February 2005

Bound Tree Medical, LLC, unveiled its first scholarship award in December, aimed at promoting the professional status of EMTs. Dubbed the Legacy Scholarship Program, it is designed for the children of EMTs and firefighters who are interested in becoming the next generation of EMTs or furthering their certification by becoming paramedics.

Bound Tree Medical, an emergency medical equipment distributor and supplier to the prehospital market in the United States, has dedicated a starting figure of $50,000 in scholarship awards to alleviate the financial burden associated with the EMT and paramedic certification process. The scholarships, which will cover up to 50% of a state-approved certification program’s tuition, are available nationwide for those who fit the eligibility criteria. Awards are paid directly to the recipients’ educational entities.

“We are committed to the long term, continued development and progress of our country’s emergency response services,” says Matt Walter, CEO of Bound Tree Medical, LLC. “We are excited about the opportunity to give back to the emergency response community through our new scholarship program.”

Applicants must be the son or daughter of a career or volunteer firefighter, EMT or paramedic who is on active duty, retired or deceased. Eligible applicants must plan to attend a state approved EMT-Basic certification program or increase their level of certification through an EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic certification program. Those pursuing further certification must have a current EMT-Basic certificate.

The first round of scholarships were awarded in December of last year. The next round will be awarded in July 2005. Applications for this round are due by May 20.
