Medwave, Inc., an innovator in sensor-based, noninvasive blood pressure measuring solutions, and ZOLL Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of noninvasive resuscitation devices and software solutions, have signed an OEM supplier agreement, under which ZOLL will purchase Medwave’s technology for incorporation into its cardiac resuscitation products. According to Richard A. Packer, president and CEO of ZOLL, “Blood pressure is a fundamental clinical assessment parameter in both acute and emergency care. The integration of this technology into ZOLL’s products will offer advantages for both caregivers and patients.” Medwave introduced its technology to the EMS market and hospital trauma centers approximately two years ago. Since then, clinical validation studies have concluded that Medwave’s technology performs more effectively than conventional blood pressure cuffs in similar environments...Road Rescue, Inc., a leading engineer and manufacturer of modular ambulances and specialty vehicles out of Marion, SC, has named Charles (Richard) Hamilton vice president of sales. Kiani, CEO and chairman of the board of Masimo Corporation, the 2004 Director of the Year for Corporate Growth. Through its annual Director of the Year Awards, FCD recognizes those directors who have made outstanding contributions to companies in their roles as directors. Sam Yau, chairman of the FCD, stated, “Mr. Kiani built Masimo from a tiny start-up to a 450+-employee, multinational company that dramatically changed pulse oximetry with their innovation of Masimo SET, a proprietary method of picking up difficult-to-read signals. His leadership also built bridges to group purchasing organizations (GPOs), paving the way for other small companies to gain access to previously unavailable market segments.” Over 90 clinical studies support the conclusion that Masimo SET is the most effective pulse oximeter in the world.
