2004 National EMS Memorial Service Honors the Ultimate Sacrifice

May 2004

The National EMS Memorial Service has released the names of those EMS providers who are being honored this year in the annual EMS Memorial Service to be held Saturday, May 29, at the First Baptist Church of Roanoke in Roanoke, VA, for having given their lives in the line of duty. Every year since 1992, members of that year’s honorees’ families are presented with a medallion, symbolizing eternal memory; a U.S. flag that has flown over the nation’s capitol, symbolizing service to the country; and a white rose, symbolizing undying love. The 14 individuals being honored this year join 268 others previously honored by the National EMS Memorial Service.

In addition to the presentations made during the Service, each honoree’s name is engraved on a bronze oak leaf, which will be added to the “Tree of Life” permanent memorial on exhibit at Roanoke’s To the Rescue Museum.
